Spark aims to foster the creative spirit by providing a stimulating and nurturing environment for youth to engage in media arts creation. In our programs, both the process of media making and the products created are credited with equal value. Although the content we teach our young people provides them with technical, artistic and workplace skills, our programs also teach life skills such as confidence, decision making, leadership, and positive risk taking.
Although our programs tend to focus on process, we host numerous exhibitions throughout the year to give our young people as many creative outlets as possible in which to display their work. Whether through our Community Mixers, our youth-produced radio and Television shows, or our annual film festival, Spark Exhibitions offer young people a chance to gain exposure for their work, network with other artists, and to be exposed to the work of other artists.
We host a number of programs at our Headquarters in Poughkeepsie, NY, however, a majority of our programs take place off-site, which means we bring our multitude of workshops and camps to a location near you! Check out our workshops and camps page for more information. Additionally, we are always seeking opportunities to collaborate with community members, organizations, and school districts in an effort to expand our reach. For more info, feel free to contact us!
