Congrats to our 2016 Reel Expressions Winner!

Congratulations to Azure Allen of North Carolina for winning the GRAND PRIZE at the 2016 Reel Expressions International Youth Film Festival!

Her short film, “One Day on Carver St.”, embodies the best of modern animation today in both its vivid images and its thought-provoking messages. Through her lens, history was beautifully brought to life, and an important story was told.

One Day on Carver St.About “One Day on Carver St.”
Charlie’s Place was a stop on the famous Chitlin’ Circuit, and hosted the hottest musicians of the post-war Jim Crow south — a rare pocket of diversity in a world where the lines between black & white were firmly drawn. This simple act of dissent angered people who would be driven to violence to stop it.

Please congratulate our First and Second Runners Up!

First Runner Up:
“American Seoul”   Director: Jeeyoon Lee
A short film about alienation, assimilation, surviving in a distant place, and blending the familiar with the new.

Second Runner Up:
“Of Gods and Bells”  Director: Alexia Salingaros
A unique exploration of the hidden, magical world of classical Indian dance in a seemingly modern and suburban environment.

More details coming soon for the 2017 Reel Expressions International Youth Film Festival!
